Licensure & Certification
Midwives in Washington State are required to be licensed through the WA State Department of Health. Maya chooses to additionally carry the national certification of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). For midwives to keep an active license it is required that we:
Renew our CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation every 2 years
Participate in Peer Review with other Licensed Midwives
Keep our skills and knowledge up to date with regular continuing education
Participate in a nationwide midwifery data collection to increase the amount of research data available for planned out of hospital birth.
